Ashura is a major religious occasion in Shia Islam. From the first of Muharram to the Day of Ashura, a period of 10 days, most Iranians mourn for the grandson of their prophet, Mohammad. One of the major symbols of those days are banners, usually decorated with iron birds at their tops and carried by some people.
Before designing, I gathered a collection of pictures about banners, and among them, I chose the pictures of the birds with human heads for designing. Red and black are common colors during Muharram.
The project was a cover for a DVD, a collection of lamentations people usually listen to during Muharram..
